A 1971 letter from Helen Howell to Bishop Arthur J. O’Neill, Diocese of Rockford, IL. written in faith and sorrow during the loss of the Traditional Latin Mass — a steadfast witness of love for Christ and His Holy Church.

To the Bishop of Rockford
Your Excellency:
Blessed be God for the “restoration of all things,” the few months we could attend our traditional Latin Mass at St. Joseph’s in Ridgefield. To be denied again that privilege does not constitute the extreme suffering that it did at first.
If it is God’s Holy Will, a just punishment that we did not appreciate nor love His most precious gifts. To be denied former consolations for so long has been a time of deepening Faith that BELIEVES without understanding; a trust that knows God’s promises are true! “Not a jot or tittle” can be changed; and the hope that is born of confidence — “Fear not — I am with you till the consummation of the world” — “The gates of hell will not prevail against it” — the establishment of the “kingdom within” which no one can take from us.
It is standing at the foot of the cross with Mary suffering with and for our Blessed Lord in prayer and reparation for those who are crucifying Him again.
God will not be mocked forever, but He is still waiting patiently as our Divine Savior hoping for the return of His children, to give Him their hearts which He so desires, the same “thirst” shared by those who love Him, His Holy Mother and our Holy Roman Catholic Faith.
All true marks of God's Holy Church have been obliterated and now we have lost our identity as “Latin Rite” Catholics. It is the True Church that Christ commanded we hear and OBEY. Anything that is not the whole truth is NOT truth! If a Catholic denies even one article of faith, he ceases to belong to the True Church.
This is the CATHOLIC ALL IN ALL stand that was required of me as a convert. IT IS STILL MY PROFESSION OF FAITH!
